There are going to be a bunch of objects that will need to be modeled for the winkeeville set, and this is the place I'm going to put requests and references.

So far what I'm looking for is:

Wagon Wheel

Broken Wagon Wheel

Milk Can (See Reference)

Barrel

Barrel planters (See Reference)

If you want to model any of these, you can let me know by posting here, or e-mailing me through the forum or dotproject site.

Eric2575
I'll model the barrel planter. How much detail do you want? I could go from really simple, just a few circles extruded, to complex, metal bands modeled, each plank modeled, etc. Do you have flowers for them or do you want me to model those also. Do you want the milk can with a removable lid?
brainmuffin
On the half barrel planter, I'd like it to be individual planks, and modeled bands. For the one that's lying on its side with the hole cut in it, it doesn't need to have individual planks, but the bands should be individually modeled.

The milk can doesn't need to open, it's just a decoration.

I haven't got flowers, feel free to give them a try if you want.

The guidelines for everything are pretty simple:

No colors, just different shades of gray.

Avoid perfection. No perfectly straight lines, no perfectly round circles, no perfect 90 degree or parallel angles. This doesn't need to be exaggerated too much, but everything should be tweaked a bit so that it's at least a little off. You can also exaggerate the shapes to make them a little more cartoony. You can refer to the proxy sets and Bob's sketches for an idea of how cartoony.

Any questions?

Update

p.s. posted this before I read your reply. Will go for more cartooney and non-perfect.

Lazlo,

When creating and assigning modelling tasks please remember to add them to dotProject. You'll need to ensure that those you assign the tasks to are Logged into dotProject as users AND that thier access/role is updated to contributor.

If necessary you can email me the details and I can assist.

Cheers
Eric2575
I am logged onto Dot project as contributor. Modeled the Goosey bird. Here is the milkcan. Barrel has not been changed yet.

They're great Eric. How are the splines? It seems a shame to mess up the barrel....make sure it's a copy you modify!

Edit: I just thought....there's a barrel floating round on one of the cds. We mustn't forget to utilize anything and everything!

awesome models eric. But your barral model doesnt fit in. It's too under detailed compared to the other objects.

Beautiful models Eric! smile.gif
Eric2575
Thanks guys. I know the barrel doesn't have a lot of details, but Lazlo wanted it that way. Some bump, texture and decal, and it'l work just fine. This is just background stuff anyways.

Everyone wants monochrome pics of the models, but I couldn't resist biggrin.gif

Btw, Lazlo, where do you want me to send the file? I made a project file with all the different models in it. I'll send that instead of seven different mdl files.
brainmuffin
Eric,

They all look great! And such a fast turnaround, too!

You can post the file here for now, since I don't understand the whole svn feature yet.

I'll assign the props to you in dotproject in a little while, and you can update the tasks.

I'll also let Bob know so he can approve them.

Later this evening I'll be posting some more references that Mike (kamikaze) found and sent to me.

Dan,

The barrel should be ok. It might require a little tweaking, but I wanted it to look newer than the half barrel planter. Once the barrel is textured (with a good bump or normal map) it should fit right in.

Dave,

Should I post them to dotproject first and then assign them when someone volunteers, or should I wait until I know who's doing it before I post it there?

.
Eric2575
Here ya go.
Paul Forwood
Excellent work, Eric!
Eric2575
Thank you Paul. It was a quick little project and was fun to do. After putting it together, I started thinking about putting together an abandoned medieval setting of some sort. We'll see.

Your choice. My preference is that you create tasks with no Human Resources so we know what needs to be done then oyu can assign the tasks and set the dates when you find people to do them.

Matt,

Have you tried Marcel Bricman's TreeeZ plugin?

http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?showt...14838&hl=Treeez

How you get the leaves on there is up to you, but it does a pretty decent job of automagically creating the trunk and branches.

Also, if you're looking to model, I'm going to be putting up more requests and references here later on tonight (I'm just finishing up some sketches). Or you could ask Vern, he may still have some tools and props that need modeleing.

I suppose it's entirely possible that this belongs in the props area, but I guess that's more David's call than mine. Should I move it, Dave?
Eric2575
You're welcome Bob. biggrin.gif

Ok, here's two sketches I did today, based on suggestions from Mike. He sent me the reference photos, I did the sketches to winkee them up a bit.

Here's a pump and trough I thought we could put in front of Mom's:

[attachmentid=13201]

And here's a well. I really like the idea of the well, and I probably wouldn't have thougt of it myself:

[attachmentid=13200]

That's what I've got so far.

Mike, I know you sent me a bunch more things, and I'm still mulling them over in my head.

For example, the Arbor. You sent me a bunch of different ones. I would like to use an arbor, and again, it's the kind of thing I probably wouldn't have put in myself, but now that you got me thinking of it, ithe pictures reminded me of something else I've seen in plenty of rural areas that would fit right in: Branch Furniture. Furniture made entirely from natural branches, much of it with the bark still on.

I've seen arbors made like that, too. I couldn't find any good references for them, though. If someone knows what I'm talking about, and wants to make a chair and an arbor out of tree branches, let me know.
Eric2575
Agep is doing the well, isn't he?
brainmuffin
That would be news to me.

Stian has done a version of the Well. It should be available in the old Act 1 modelling thread.

Not sure if you guys still needed one, but here it is if you want it.

Oooooo nice. We have lots of sets so it will fit in somewhere. If not here then Nimmees House perhaps!

Dan, you'll have to log into dotProject then let me know so I can add you as a contributor (unless you are in there under a different userId)

Cheers
