i drew a picture, that i had fixed up with adobe photoshop.
I brought it over to A:M, but im not too sure on how to make it 3d.
I brought it as a Rotoscope.
I tried tracing it, but it didnt work the way i thought it would.
I would really like some help

Can you upload the image for us to take a look at?
We can make suggestions from there.
Right now I would just say (humorously of course) spline better!
Having a look at your drawing will help to better formulate a plan of attack.
Best,

That's a good char pic. But, it would be difficult to use in creating a model. What you could do now is draw the character from the front and from the side and use those to model the character. As in the tutorials on modeling in the manual.

Cruzin, just going to state the obvious here, so if this seems completely off, please disregard. You know that when you bring in a picture to AM as a rotoscope, the idea is that you are just bringing in a reference, usually one for a front on view and one from the side, and then you start building your model in 3D... there isn't a magic "click here" to make your pic into 3D, and tracying it will only give you a spline that is in the shape of the outline of your character?
Sometimes new users think that the program can some how make a full 3D model from a picuture. It can't, not the way you're thinking. There is an Illustrator plug in wizard, but its for just adding depth to basic shapes (like text or logos). If you where to use the Illustrator plugin on an image of a happy face, it would come out with thickness like a coin, not a sphere like Pac-Man, if that makes any sense.
There is a tutorial on using rotoscopes in your manual where you build an air plane. That will show you how to use rotoscopes to make a 3D object.
You can make your character in 3D, but you have to know how to build him using cps and splines to create a 3 dimensional representation of him. The picture you have would just be used as a guide.

You can also see a video version of that tutorial here:
