Full Version: In Chor, Action, Constraints sometimes go away temporarily

Hello,

I've noticed that when working in the chor, sometimes you'll do something and some of the actions (not chor actions) and constraints will stop working. This is a temporary thing -- restarting AM will almost always fix the problem.

Does anyone know of an easier way to do this. BTW, this is not a redraw error that pressing the space bar will fix.

Thanks,
Rusty

I've gotten that too, same fix as you. I've also noticed that sometimes if I make a change to a model and save as, the constraint references the old one.

I have encountered this in a similar way in that if I make a change to an action (that is used in the chor) that the change does not get reflected in the chor until I restart A:M.

Uh... sounds like... maybe... one of us should try to report this?

Has anyone else figured out any other steps to reproduce? I never could figure it out.

By the time I figured out that my finger action wasn't making my fingers wiggle... I had already forgotten when it started... just one example.

If ALL of us reported it AT THE SAME TIME.... that would be cool.

I'm not sure if Rusty & I are describing the same problem - & I don't have ver 12 - so it's not relevant for me to report the problem - but to duplicate what I'm talking about:

1) create an action 2) apply to a model in a chor 3) change the action in some way - The change in the action does not get reflected in the chor (ver 11.1i, pc, xp pro). To get the change to show up - one can usually close A:M and bring back the chor and the change in the action will take effect. - Sometimes one can get the change to show up if you start a new project & bring back the chor, sometimes not.

(Note: I do not work with embedded projects - so do not know if this makes a difference - but in previous versions - changing an action would show up immediately in the chor using the action)

I can't reproduce it and mine have aways come back with a restart.

Nancy,

I think it would still be a good idea to report v11.1 problems. Sometimes... they may happen in v12 as well. They still have a choice for v11.1 on the reports page.

-------------

I think I may have experienced both problems... and probably thought they were the same thing.

I usually just remove and add back in the action in the chor. Faster than restarting AM.

The most recent event was playing with the scarecrow rig in v12. I did a short animation of him playing guitar.

This only happened once the whole time.

Most of the animation was done directly in the chor, but I had a repeating finger wiggle action. At some point I noticed they stopped... wiggling and nothing I did got them going again.

I deleted this action and put it back in and it worked again.

I am going to pay more attention to this so I can try to figure out when it happens.

I have been... neglecting my "bug log sheet" (I recently started trying to keep a check list when things happen more than 3 times so I am better informed when filling out reports). Hard to maintain this devotion in the heat of the creative process.

I don't know about you guys but I am really having problems in chorus line exercise 2. version 12 and i got the up date before any one asks.

The problem comes when I take out a prop character and put action short cuts on the top.
Following the exact procedure in chorus line render to file but instead of the range properties going from 00.00.00 to 00.02.00 ..I have the end value at 00.00.10 this is simply because i have dropped on more short cuts.I also make sure that the wire animation runs okay before rendering to file.

this is however where the problems starts.. the rendered file will not complete the computor freezes.
at first i THOUGHT IT MIGHT BE A MEMORY ISSUE but i have 1.6 gig ram..and at least 1.5 of local drive.
The processor is at 2.71 ghz or something in that range off..graphic board radeon 9800 pro

I tried several diognotic tests by turning off all other programmes and services..same problem..it didnt render.Next I tried testing the temprature of the fan..everything seemed ok.
i made sure that for my xp version I downloaded all updates and made sure device drivers were running correctllty..Still no rendering..

Can anyone who reads this try taking out a prop charachter say the rabbit, that's the one i been using..and drop about 6 short cuts from action on the top.save to file on low..I would love to know what your results are.

Better than mine i hope..As anyone got any ideas to correct the problem im having. thanks
