Here's an look at the new Chopfyt character based on Bob's storyboard and starting from Mark Strohbehn's original model, although I added a vest. I will give him the same arm that Stian ends up with on Tinman, once all the joints are finalized. The hair is just geometry at the moment.
And here are some images from the storyboard.

I think you'll find thats shadow cast by the vest.
It is a very nice model. When I first saw it I couldn't help but think that I have seen him somewhere before - was it the man version of Shrek?

Ok, we have to get Arnold Schwarzenegger to voice this guy. I have a gut feeling he'll be looking for a job soon, might as well make the offer now. Sweet Model!

Thanks, Mark and everyone.
Here's a shot of the not-so-happy couple. Just trying to see if the characters "go together".

Wonderful! Two things catch my eye. His wrists look thin but might be an optical illusion. Also, his six pack seems too defined.

Thanks all!
You're right about the wrist, Ken. I will work on that.
The abs are tricky because I don't want to have too many splines there to cause a rigging nightmare, so I'm trying to get definition with very few splines. If I soften the definition much now they start to disappear. We'll probably have to add bump maps eventually.

I assume you're using the bias controls to define them? Though I'm not sure how that would animate in that area.

Yes, just the magnitude so far. And some cp peaking, because I'm lazy.

Nice! I like his hair too, though it'll probably go particle.
I'm just thinking...is Nick not meant to look all chopped like he's made from pieces?

Very interesting point, Ken - Perhaps he really should have some Frankensteiny type markings? KuKlip is a World Class TinSmith - not a top notch surgeon. Ok, maybe he's a World Class Magic Glue Caulker also.
But if Chopfyt were to be nicked (get it?) - then shouldn't Nimee Aimee be a little less flawless - as didn't she get made into Tin Girl? - So something must have happened to her also. This must be version 2 of her as well. Both these meat characters are made out of left over body parts, smooshed back together with goo.
Maybe too much thinking going on (obviously not in my head).
Gorgeous Models Jim. I suspect the villagers will be out in full force with pitch forks & torches if you "imperfectize" them any.
But maybe Nimee Aimee should have some tiny Tin remnant as well - to foreshadow her reincarnation as TinGirl?
As much as I like the ripped muscles - the bare chest does seem sort of out of place for Oz.
(Ain't this a piss having to deal with lookie-loos? It's almost like a construction site, where any ol' passer-by feels the need, nay...compulsion, to butt in)

Thanks!
I agree that he should look scarred from his paste job. I think decals and bump maps will be enough for the amount of gore we want to show. A scar around the upper flesh arm is probably all we really need, unless his head was cut off also.
I'm not sure enough about the story to know if Nimmee got chopped up or if Ku Klip just made Tingirl for Mrs.Yoot.
I don't mind people's comments. A lot of good ideas have been brought up that way. I put the vest on him because I thought the topless look was too much, but I felt the wife'beater t-shirt was out of place, too.

I'm not clear about it either, will have to re-watch the animatic - it is a story element that needs to be resolved at some point to satisfy the viewer (if it isn't already).

I'm confused.
Is this the guy made from the Tinman's parts... or... the Tinman before he became the Tinman?
I thought Chopfyt would be all fleshy bits... he has that Lee Majors action happening on the right arm.
----
I wouldn't obsess too much about the scars... it might freak people out. I always imagined the magic "glue" to be.... magic!... no scars!
Good grief... plastic surgeons in our unmagical world can work wonders... I would expect even more from the magical world of Oz.
----
Oh he looks great by the way... if I were a woman I am sure I'd be even more excited... unfortunately as a man I am mostly jealous.

Maybe he could be made up from the cast-off parts of Oz folk from different regions? Yellow, purple, red and blue. A patchwork man.
Perhaps not. It was just a crazy idea that could make a statement without turning Chopfyt into Frankenstein's monster.
I just hope that we're not getting ahead of ourselves a little here. Bob said that the old animatics are history now and that there are new animatics on the way. We'll have to wait and see how he has portayed Chopfyt and the other characters before we can put in the finer details.
Excellent model, Jim!
I'm only kidding about the patchwork Chopfyt! I think all of his body parts came from Nick Chopper didn't they?
EDIT: Removed my distracting images of technicolour Chopfyt.

Hey beautiful model!.
<crawl out of hole>
I'm not sure what the position is on feedback but the armholes on his waistcoat / jacket look a bit tight. Maybe loosen the fit a bit? I could imagine a real figure would end up chafing on the fabric otherwise. Apologies if I'm doing the wrong thing here.

Geez, I hope I'm not out of line here since I don't know any of the story and such, but is this guy (beautifully done) a protagonist or antagonist in the story? If he's a hero figure, shouldn't he look more personable? Right now, I am thinking he must be a good guy being with the babe and all, but he kinda looks like a thug, mostly cause of the face. I might be all wrong and he will probably look great with a grin or smile pose, but that was just my first confused impression.
KenH

Perfect first impression! He's not the hero. He's the guy that steals Tinmans girl! And he's abit off at that.
