I've got a problem with the render lock mode. It only wants to render in "raytrace" mode. I can't seem to get it to do it as a multipass. I'm sure it has before. I've chaecked my render settings and they show that Multipass is on for all views. Any advice?
(I'm still on v11.1i by the way, waiting for the new year before I upgrade)

Well....doesn't render lock just give you a preview and it renders sections of your window in iterations. So, in that way, it's abit like multipass. But I don't know if actual multipass plays a part at all. I'm not sure what you mean by raytrace in this context.

Yes it does, but I was sure that I have been able to use it to show Skycast light renderings before. They way i understand them is that they use the multipass function to help blur the shadow from each of the lights.
I know that this can be done because John Henderson does it on his video to explain Skycast.

"Raytrace" is what it says in the bottom left corner next to the render progress bar, I just thought that it might have been relivant.

I'm just trying to find out what I have done wrong and if anyone has any suggestions.
Cheers.

Also... when it is rendering on render lock, it goes 1%, 2%, 3%, 100% on the progress bar. Almost as though it gives up part way through.

Render mode (press the Q key) shows multipass when you have it set. That might be what you're after....

Thanks for the help. Looks like I got my self all confused. Your right. My bad.
Multipass doesn't work with render lock, it's a normal render with a section selected.
I feel sooooo stupid now.

Thanks for you posts KenH, it's apprecited. wink.gif
