So how about the Wooden Cart, Winkie and Turkey to go with it biggrin.gif

Cheers

I'll start small. Put me down for the bouncing shovel for the time being.
KenH
Here's an untextured shovel.
agep
Can I do a shot at the Cart without the turkey?
agep
Hope you'll find forgiveness in me, but I didn't wait for any go-ahead signal (or don't go-ahead), so feel free to reject it

great looking cart!

I like it too. We will have to figure out the harness to attach the "turkey" to it. And create a haystack to go in it.[I think that could just be a lathed shape that would have a hair material]

I'd like to try my hand at the rabbit. I enjoy doing animals. What kind of time frame is there for the models in this section? I don't want to bite off more than I have time to chew!

"turkey" to pull the cart.

Since I saw this on the Art director's meeting minutes, I guess it's a legitimate question: the rabbit's design? I was going to start modeling the rabbit based on the sketches in the leica reel, but most of the models up to now were more realistic. Now I hear the designs are changing, so... what do I do? Do I make a quazi-realistic rabbit, or a cartoon one, or wait for a design? Unless I hear otherwise, I'm going to work on designing a cartoony rabbit, and I'll post my sketches before I start modeling.

cheers,

matt

I am working on a sketch.
AniMattor
Here's a rough sketch of what I'm thinking. I can move away from the cartoony look--if I have to. wink.gif

(edit) And there's always THIS for inspiration!

Here is what I have in mind:
AniMattor
Thanks. I'll get started on him right away.

AniMattor
Okay, so I didn't get started right away...

I was wondering if the rabbit design was going to change like the other characters. Since I haven't started yet, I won't loose any work whichever way we go. I just wanted to make sure of my direction before I began. I'd like to take him in the direction of the animatic , but I may be taking it too literally.

Cheers,

matt

Good call. Indeed, I do think the Rabbit needs to be more like the animatic, very similar to the drawings you've just posted. Jim will need to make the final say but I think you're close. Hopefully, Jim will see your posting soon and give you the go-ahead.
JTalbotski
Matt,

Martin's right, you're close!

I will do a sketch within the hour and post it here.

Here's my version of the rabbit, which is pretty close to your first drawing. I can see a lot of squashing and stretching with this character as he jumps and runs and peeks around.

Bob hasn't approved this yet. I just wanted to get the drawing done when I said I would.

Jim

AniMattor
Thanks for the quick response, Jim! I'll get started on him as soon as I can.
Cheers,
Matt

Very Disney-like. Thumper's cousin?
JTalbotski
I concede that I have always been influenced by Disney's work. But since they have done so many animation styles through the years, it's very hard to create a cartoony character that doesn't resemble a Disney character, especially in the quasy-realistic caricature style we are headed in, and also have it match the characters we've already started.

Hopefully seeing him in 3D form, the differences between the 2 characters will be more pronounced.

Jim

Here's a slightly revised look at the rabbit, with smaller cheeks. And a look at Thumper. They're both rabbits, but hopefully different enough.

Jim

KenH
Is this critter going to be getting particle hair?
JTalbotski
As far as I know.

Oops! Hold it, Matt!

Here's a sketch from Bob that makes me very glad he's directing. He can do it all.

Isn't this perfect?

I really like this character. I can see him doing what scrat did for ice age
AniMattor
Zowie! This dude's gonna be fun to work on. I Think hair will be the order of the day, but that step won't come for a while yet!
