Hi, are there any good tutorials about making clothing for actors. I want to make old WWI military uniforms.

Assuming you have good reference photos, and have decided whether your clothing will be modeled to geometry or over the body (basically, are you going to have clothing changes with the same model?) Then I'd look at this tutorial by Frank Silas.

Granted, it's for a dress, but as he says at the beginning the basics can be applied to modeling everything from a bodice to a breastplate. The principle is the same. For trousers, duplicate the leg geometry and see where you can simplify it (i.e., bigger and baggier as long as there aren't pop-throughs in movement). Just make sure you break and attach CPs where needed to get smooth extensions.

The way I make cloth for my character. Say if I want to create a shirt I will select the body all the way to the neck area and part of the arm area. Then copy and paste and make sure it align with the body. Then what I will do is modify the cloth to make it look like one. But if you are planning to do cloth simulation it's gonna be a little difficult than just modeling.

I just had a thought, if I make clothes objects. How do I fix them so they move with the body parts and define a boundries so the body parts do not poke through?

Offhand, it's tricky sometimes. If your character isn't changing clothes, you can model the clothes as part of the geometry. If you're a bit lazy and you're sure that no angles will show this, you can leave out geometry where the clothing covers. With my characters, I model the whole character, then clothe it, and assign CPs generally in accordance with the way the body geometry is mapped, some CP weighting, lag bones etc. for a little secondary movement. I don't use simcloth much, or haven't yet. Create some actions and test for pop throughs, tweak and you should be good. If it's your first set of characters and they aren't changing clothes, try modeling the clothing as part of the geometry, or partly (i.e., trousers that way, then a separate jacket).
