the question that immediately jumps out at me is 'why are you so far away from your subjects?'

what are you trying to say with this picture?

rolleyes.gif Oh the picture? thats just something i threw togeter in a couple of mins i was just using it as an example of how my anime rendering looks.

well, then limiting my comments to the characters themselves, they seem kind of open.

the hard boundaries between color shifts should be pushed out away from the edges a bit, and define the volumes facing more towards the camera.

does that make sense?

That can be done by rotating the light so it points more toward the side. But what I'd suggest most of all is reducing the thickness of the lines.
