I hope that this might be of some use to newbies. smile.gif

Nothing very illuminating here but someone might benefit from watching how to create circular holes in a cylinder as I test out Wink's abilities.
Restricting the palette to web-safe colours has made it look a little strange but I wanted to keep the file small enough to post it here. (My web space is full sad.gif )

I was hoping to get it to stream from here but I am unable to get the server to accept a SWF file so here it is zipped.

That one was really instructive - every step!
I think it was good - I learnt a lot.

Nice Paul! My only suggestion - that's going to be very hard for a newbie to follow, since you didn't include any explanation smile.gif I kind of followed most of it, but I still consider myself a n00b having had AM for only 5 months. There were a few things I wasn't quite sure how you were doing. The best tutorials explain each step - even if briefly. Also telling why you do things is good too. But that's great - I never knew that technique before and it is VERY helpful!

EDIT: I understand if space is an issue. If you want, make it as big as you want, zip it up and e-mail it to me and I will post it on my server. I have 2GB of space available smile.gif

Yeah. Okay I'll do a shorter follow up with text and step buttons but probably no Samba this time. biggrin.gif ( Sound will push the file size up too much. )

Paul,
Very smooth.

I agree that describing the steps will be a great benefit to anyone who does't have a good grasp of modeling already.

On the other hand it was refreshing to watch a Wink tutorial that you didn't have to click through. Fits my lazyness quotient perfectly. wink.gif

Good job!

Thanks, guys. I'm glad that you think these will be of help to those who are new to splines and A:M. I'm impressed with Wink's capabilities. Amazing for a freebie! biggrin.gif

Here is a shorter tutorial for adding circular holes to cylinders and I have included text this time. There are a couple of steps that are not necessary in this but they only concern changing the view.

Edit :
I just noticed that I have made a big error in this tutorial! ohmy.gif

Where I have said to use Ctrl/A it should be just 'A'
Rodney
Now you are talkin'!

Very clear and concise information.
Makes me want to make models with portholes. smile.gif

^what he said^, now that he said it. curious if this would help join jewels on crowns?
Paul Forwood
Sorry. I didn't realise that this thread was still alive.

The tutorial was a very basic example of creating holes in a mesh, meant for newbies. You guys already know this stuff. smile.gif

I have just found a copy of the tutorial on an old computer but it was in a "Wink" format that doesn't want to run on my new PC.

in the beginning of 2010 I recorded a tutorial showing how to create:
1) Beveled cube
2) Beveled cube with 2 circular holes
3) Beveled cube with 4 circular holes
4) Beveled cube with 6 circular holes

If those aren't already in the Tutorials section of A:M Films, they should be, Marcos!
