I have been experimenting with layers in A:M 11.1c. I have never used layers in A:M before and wanted to test out their versatility.

I have a Quicktime movie on one layer which displays correctly but I can't find a way of setting the movie to loop. The same goes for Image Sequences. I know that I am just missing something that is probably quite obvious but could someone give me a clue? blink.gif

Howdy:

You'll need to keyframe the Frame property as you want it, then choose Repeat as your post-extrapolation method in the channel you created. To access the frame property, you'll need "Show more than drivers" turned on, I think.

This might be too obvious, but is it not in the properties for the movie? Or the layer?

Sorry, Zach, I'm not sure what you mean.

'Show more than Drivers' is not an option with layers, at least the icon is not there in the PWS.

If I set the action to repeat 4 times in the Layer's Action properties, as shown in the attached image, it makes no difference, it still just produces one cycle. sad.gif

Try switching off "hold last frame"?
Paul Forwood
Thanks, Ken, but I tried that and it still doesn't loop. sad.gif

To loop any animated image, animate the frame property.

Here are steps:

New choreography
New layer

Pick any quicktime or other animation in my case it was a 10 frame quicktime.

Frame zero of the choreography, set the frame property of the layer's image property to zero.

Frame 10 of the choreography, set the frame property .. to 10.
Righ click on the frame property and choose, select driver, chor action 1 / image.frame

Change the end method (first button on the right on the image.frame driver) to repeat (third option)

Thank you so much!
That was driving me crazy! (Crazier)
I'm sure that doesn't have to be so convoluted, does it?

Thanks again though! biggrin.gif

I wonder what the "Repeat" option in the properties does!? blink.gif

That's just the image tiling button, Ken.

I'm going to have to write this procedure down because if I don't use layers for a while I'll be back here asking how to do it again. blink.gif

Anyway, I'm just happy to have it working. smile.gif

Aha...I'm off to pasty that explanation too. Thanks for raising it!

Sorry, Ken, that 'Repeat' that you mentioned is not the image tiling button. I just checked the image that I posted. The 'Repeat' option in the image is indeed confusing and I am sure that anyone trying to find their way will assume, as you and I did, that this option is how you set the repetition of an image sequence or movie.
