Hi,
I'm working on a song based story of an Indian street boy in Calcutta, India. The story will be between this character named 'govindo' and a little bird. The character is kinda finished. I'll love some comments. The bird will be sitting on his right hand.

Very nice and the storyboard is really professional !
it is possible to see your character in wireframe please?
Good luck for your story.

Ok I am sensing an unfair advantage here. You can actually draw unlike those of us that are more technicians than artists, this puts you so far ahead of the techies that it is definetly an unfair advantage.
That being said, WOW! that character looks great!
Cannot wait to see more,

Hi Satyajit;
While I normally don't care for the pointy chin look, I think that it looks very good on your boy. I do have a question for you though - I looked at the storyboards and followed the story without problems. What are the blue symbols (arrows, +/-, frames)? Are they clues about camera movement and framing perhaps?
Very impressive. I would very much like to see more of this work as it progresses. There is much I can learn from you I think!

Hi,
Thanks everyone. That was quite inspiring. Right now, I'm doing the bird character. I'll post updates in this forum. After that, I'll rig the bird. The boy character is already rigged, posed and with expressions. Then I'll move to background painting with my Wacom. I'll regularly update you, please keep a close watch.
Thierry, I'm posting a wireframe for you. Please tell me what do you think.
Bill, I use the + / - sign for Zoom in/ out. I feel comfortable with that, though it's unconventional.
Everyone, is there any good free ftp site, where I can upload the animatic with full song soundtrack?

Check with your IP first. I have Charter.net and they provide a chunk of bandwidth for their users. I have played around with it some. I use it to transfer bigger files back and forth to work when I don't wanna take the time or waste a CD to burn it.

Wow - what a fantastic project - great model and great animatic. I couldn't understand a word that was sung but the animatic told the story. If you are half as good as the project thus far has revealed your going to have a brilliant short at the end.
Cheers

Satyajit;
The anamatic was really well done. Much like David said, I could not understand the lyrics of the song but the tone of the song and the animatic images told a really uplifting beautiful story.
Is the song popular enough that there would be translated lyrics on the web?

Could you post a different format than WMV for the Mac users in the house?

I would also love an English translation of the lyrics if that possible. You timing seems goos on the animatic. The only thing that's hard to judge is how jast id the boy traveling during that long pan you do?

Hi all,
Thank you for those comments. It's been a real motivation for me. I'm working on the backgrounds now. And I'll post a .mpg / .mov version with English subtitle soon.

That would be fantastic. While what you have shown is really inspirational, I really want to know what the lyrics to the song are. The story just looks uplifting and happy.

This looks very very good. I think your animatic reads quite well and your character is top notch.
Forgive my ignorance but - what makes this anime? Or perhaps I should say more generally "what makes anime anime". Is it the toon look? Is it the eyes? Is it the way something is shot/directed?
I don't prefer what I've thought of as the anime style in the past but to me this doesn't fall into my pre-conceived notions. Thanks for any enlightenment.

Dictionary says its "animation from japan". but imo its the way they shape the face basicly that defines anime in general but then again, there are sooo many variations of the anime style.
You know its anime when you see it ^^
other than that its just...a cartoon, from japan.

I think the term 'anime' cannot be contained in Japan. The Japanese way of animation filmmaking can be termed as 'anime', though in Japan itself there's various styles which surpasses the typical 'anime' genre.
The genre 'anime' has dedicated filmmakers who've transformed this to a whole new meaning for animation.
I've used the term 'anime' paying respect to all the Japanese animation filmmakers. I'm a dedicated follower of their way of work, not their style. The interesting process of making an anime has interested me. I think by practising this style, one can find a better way of making animation in far lesser budget. I'm impressed with this style. It's not the big eyes or the pointy chin thing. That's the form of manga. But 'anime' is hidden in the method, I'm trying to incorporate in this particular film.

Well Technically, Anime is just the Japanese word for Animation or Cartoons.... So the Japanese consider things like Lion King to be Anime. But generally in the word outside Japan, Anime is just Japanese Animation.

This project lives again.
I'll soon start on the BGs. I'm changing the boy model for get rid off the anime look.
This is no topic for ANIME forum. I'll move this to the WIP forum soon.

Another thing with anime is Unlike some cartoon shows(Family guy, Simpsons) Anime has the a story continue through out the show, every episode has something to do with the episode before it, its not just a different story in every episode
