Full Version: Who wants to do an ANI-JAM?

An "Ani-Jam" is a collaborative work where someone does a bit of animation, then hands off the last frame to someone else, who uses that as the starting point for some more animation. His/her last frame is sent to a third person who uses that as the starting point for... get the idea?

When everyone was done I'd render it, post it and we could all gasp in horror at the monster we created. ohmy.gif

Just to make it extra special, we'll do it as a stereoscopic movie!user posted image

New-bees, do-bees, fried-bees... all would be eligible. I'm thinking there'd be about 5 seconds per person.

I can imagine several different scenarios for organizing it; right now I'm just gauging the interest.

Post a "count-me-in" if you are interested,

YES! YES! YES! Great idea!

Allright I'm in. This is like exquisite corpse? where we won't know what's been done before until the end.

It's coming, I want to put up a tut on stereoscopic image composition before we start.

I guess I better finish that ASAP.

Count me in, whatever in is.

Someone already did this. It's called Pass the Ball. See if you can get all the pass the ball people to re-render their clips in stereo!

Count me in, pass the ball was cool, but this will be cooler and use all the same models or provide smooth transitions!

Actually, this started before Pass the Ball--in fact, Pass the Ball was inspired by this ani-jam.

So when's the ETA, Robert? smile.gif

The AniJam will end when we run out of people who want to do it, which hasn't happened yet. Right now there are about 4 people waiting for a turn.

It is going rather slowly as many are finding it challenging to work with a previous person's chor. user posted image

But still going. smile.gif No ETA yet. unsure.gif

Did you guys ever finish this? Cause it's been a while since anyone has replied to this forumn. If you did, I'd like to see it.
jon

...but i did finally finish it! ' ' )

I've been using AfterEffects to place Right And Left Views into a single movie like this

Polar Express imitation, 3D snowfall - no zombies

and this:

Cross Busy Hiway.mov

but you could also do the about the same with A:M "layers" (a feature described in the A:M Help documentation) to place the two views side-by-side in front of an orthogonal camera (a feature described in the A:M Help documentation) and render them out to one movie file.

The movie is still in progress. It progresses like a barge run aground on a sand bar waiting for the next tide to dislodge it. But in progress none-the-less.

Here is one frame that has been revealed: In 1 more frame Shaggy's Life will Change Forever, at the Stereoscopic AniJam

Hmmm.... if it's that easy, would it be possible to request a parallel version of the Jam, in addition to cross-eyed, when the time comes?

Since I got the PokeScope, a WHOLE NEW WURLD has opened up...
Bruce Del Porte
The Pokescope looks interesting. How well does it work if you use two offset cameras in a chor? Can the software batch process image sequences?
ZachBG
Er... what software? huh.gif I just got the scope itself. It's quite good at resolving images, as long as they're not too small.

I just got off the phone with the guy who is taking his turn to work on this project.

He's having a bit of a challenge understanding where to get started.
That is to say, there's a document which notes what frames in the timeline he's been assigned and he's found the character in the scene to not be in any sort of a pose as if it were just from the last frame of the work of the animater before the current guy. The character is sort of just at a strange angle, in the standard "arms out the sides" pose you'd normally find when rigging a character. He's wondering if it's supposed to be like that, or if his computer is having a problem with the chor file.

There's an action and some animation further down the timeline, about 2,000 frames. That part looks like it belongs there.

The point of this reply is to submit the thought that it might be helpful for each partcipant to be more detailed in there notes regarding the nature of the last frame they leave off at. Perhaps this could serve to reduce confusion about how the transition from the previous turn to this one could happen smoothly.

That's all.
I look forward to seeing the end result.

Looks like my attempts to set the project to 24 FPS didn't go so well the first few times... finally got it straightened out, and voila! The last frame is where it should be now.
Thanks Nyah&Rob!

robcat2075
The directions are actually rather elaborate. But like all directions, they're not happy until they are read.

Including the part about making sure you're working in 24fps. That part is even in bold type. laugh.gif

Frame counts get out of whack fast if you're counting 30 per second instead of 24.

To summarize... 30 bad, 24 good.

Thank you for your efforts!
