Thanks for your persistent work on this. It's much appreciated.

Thanks Kricket!!
This looking really informative! smile.gif

Maybe you and some of the great A:M talents out there could contribute to a A:M tutorial book and have HASH publish it!

I am sure it would go down well!

I look forward to the rest of the tutorials - keep up the good work!:)

I had looked at your tutorials just a few days ago, and was excited about them, but also disapointed that it wasn't finished. I am VERY glad you are still working on it.

Thank you for sharing your techniques. smile.gif

Thanks everyone smile.gif

I'm tryin like mad to get everything done by the 31st for the cd. Working on the rigging section now. Will keep ya updated.

Hey Kricket,

Thanks a lot! It's always interesting to see other people's methods of doing things. I had never thought of extruding the nostrils to make the nose. You make me inspired to make my own modeling tutorial, but I'm pretty sure that my laziness will kick in before I get to it. Anyway thanks a ton for being generous with your time.

-Alonso

p.s. by the way I always put a sphere down first, and then model my eye spline around it, so that I don't have issues with the eyelids going through the sphere.

Cool Christmas Present Kricket biggrin.gif

I'll have to try that smile.gif

Yo Matt!

Nice piece of work there, and it's really nice to see a few more folks concentrating on non-photo-realistic modeling techniques.

I will mention, however, that using rotoscopes becomes a little problematical when your source material is in itself animation - especially when one is more left-brain oriented like myself. smile.gif
patmals
at least one half of your brain wants to cooperate...im a no brainer myself hahaha

It's done! w00h000!

When did you ever find the time to do all this? Unbelievable!

I thought I knew a lot about toon design in A:M, but some of this stuff was a real eye-opener to me. You just saved me weeks of work on my current project.

How can we ever repay you?
Thierry
Bravo !!!!!!!!

That looks to be a terrific collection of tutorials for all A:M users, not just Anime lovers!

Well done Kricket and Happy New Year! smile.gif

Awesome, thanks for finishing this. I can't wait to try this out. I'm working on a female right now. She's realistic, but I think I might use you modeling technique for the breast area, because mine isn't connected to the arm correctly.

Thanks again, I sure I will be using these tutes when I decide to make an anime character.

YAY!, thanks for finishing this tutorial, I was highly anticipating it biggrin.gif .
Rodney
Matthew,
Awesome stuff! smile.gif

Lots and lots of good information.

I really like the way you handled the Rendering Tutorials.
Really sets everyone up for success!

Thanks!

Edit with a question:
After posting such a great set of tutorials I hesitate to ask for more but thought you might be interested...

Since you cover rigging in your tutorial I was wondering if you might want to add an explanation about how rigs (yours in particular) might work with resuable actions. Is that something you plan to add at a later date?

Since the tutorials are heading for the A:M CD it might be a nice thing to have included int the text. Just a sentence or too might suffice.

Sorry if I sound presumptious or demanding. Not meaning to be. -Rodney

Kricket
Thanks everyone!

Rodney - No worries, no offense taken smile.gif

Honestly I don't use reusable actions all too much (except for minor things-hair or cloth flapping around on a loop) so I wouldn't be too comfortable writing about it.

There is a lot of stuff I didn't cover in the tutorials which will be added someday. Eye Rigging, Facial setup/poses, stuff like that. Once I finish animating and rendering a scene I have in mind I'm gonna expand the compositing tutorial. More toon-shader examples. I've got some neat ideas in my head for cloth rigging and anime special-effects, but I need to try em out first before I do a tute on em.
Rodney
Thanks for the quick response Matt.

You answered my question and more. smile.gif

I'll get with you one on one concerning integration into the next A:M CD.
We need to be locking down the content for the next one soon for delivery to Hash Inc.

I think new users will love seeing your tutorials straight out of the box.
It'll open doors to understanding for toon lovers everywhere.

Thanks!

Hey Mathew,

Great tutorial!! How do you set the toon gradient to color? And how do you uncompress a .rar file? I found winrar but that looked like it came with a bunch of spyware?

Thanks for the time you put in.

-Alonso
Kricket
Right click on the tab in the gradient, then instead of Color Percentage choose a color from the picker.

try heading to http://www.rarsoft.com There shouldnt be any spyware in it. But I guess I should go with zips instead.. will update it later.

Just took a look at your tute - real nice work. Thank you! I'm a big anime fiend. Love the style of anime/manga. You really captured that feel of it, too! I also like the tutes covering lines and shading. Excellent.

Thanks,

Tony

Hi, Kricket.

I would like to see this topic, with links to your tutorials, pinned to the top of this forum so that it doesn't get overlooked or buried beneath new posts. Any chance? smile.gif
Very useful tutorials for new and old.
Paul Forwood
Oh, that was quick! Thanks. smile.gif
Kricket
