There was a post a while back asking about having two characters in the same model (the example given was two men fighting). The conclusion was that it would be best to have two models in a choreography and animate them separately.

I've run into a problem of a related nature that I thought I'd present here as it has to do with reusable motion or (more specifically) rigs used for reusable action. Perhaps someone has run into something similar and knows what I'm referring to.

What I was trying to do is import similar or even the same models (rigged with the same rig) into a model. I ran into an error/crash most likely caused by the two rigs having the same named bones and constraints.

Ideally, I'd like to be able to import the models and have A:M recognize and change the simularities. An alternate might be to strip the bones out of the models prior to import. Losing the bones though means recreating them of course which I'd like to avoid.

The reason for all this should be more apparent when I post a tutorial on some relatively unknown features of A:M in the future. We can still do a lot but the bones thing... seems to be a deadend short of editing the text of the model files just prior to importing. That as we know would require a plugin and I doubt such a thing would be necessary enough to be worth creating.

Have I described this clearly enough?
Need more specifics?

I'll see what I can put together.

Thanks
