I know that "Action" comic books are more appropriate as prizes for reusable actions, but I never read them as a youngster. Embarrassing though it may be, I liked "Richie Rich", "Dot", and "Little Lulu". For those of you who are put off by Superman, I thought I'd offer "Merrie Melodies" #113, from March 1951 (see below) for the best project exhibiting ANY SUBJECT covered in the "Reusable Motion" topic.

Ohoh... now you are talking my language.
ZackBG... you are on notice... that is one fine comic book. And 52 pages... All in color for a dime. *Drool*

*As a side note, one of the reasons I really love the cartoony comic books these days is that the drawings of props are so simple they are almost guaranteed to inspire simplicity in modeling. Check out Porky's car on the cover above. And the building/theater/walls. Neat. That scene would be fairly simple to recreate in 3D especially since the rabbit lives on the A:M CD.

...and back on topic.
Simple models often require simple actions and they are a great source from which to learn.

Hey, well I guess my Apprenticeship Lesson Project may qualify for this one......

3 shots, each with 5 blended actions and overloaded with Chor Action and camera action and constraints and such.....

I have included a link to an image of the project workspace for one shot as well.

Its the bottom animation link (Screen Test). Note that I am fast approaching my bandwidth limit.

Looks great! Embed a non-copyrighted character in that and attach the project here.

Ahhhhhhh...... Good point - didn't think of that.

Franks model is proprietry and does not conform to the naming standards etc - the actions aren't actually reusable by anything other than Franks model sad.gif

Cheers

Frank could copyright the model in the "Comments" section, and say "For educational purposes only". Some of the other artists do that, and have for years without a problem.

Well, I'm not sure I would call this "reusable motion" since there isn't one motion in it I would ever want to reuse tongue.gif but...

In this post Ragtag reminded us that A:M has motion capture hardware built-in. So, for the first time anywhere...

"The Door is Stuck" done entirely with mouse capture. ohmy.gif

edit: I did have to keyframe two foot rotations manually. Tried doing them "live" but no luck.

You may need to direct A:M to the Shaggy and Door models on the CD while A:M is loading the project.

This took about an hour and 20 mins. I captured every thing slowly at 6 fps, then scrunched it down to 24 fps.

It's pretty raw looking. Has anyone made use of this feature?

Perhaps you could make a generic proxy of that by deleting some spline rings; just leave enough to hang the mesh on the bones. Then you'd have something that wouldn't have the specific detail of Frank's creation but would still work with the actions.

Ahhhh - Good idea. I'll do that this weekend.

The bit at the end is very clever. Very few people do the whole bit of Shaggy bracing his legs on the wall. Congratulations!

Hey David;

Are you going to post that cool project you did, or something like it?
higginsdj
Hi Martin,

It will be posted today - Work and Franks project came first this week rolleyes.gif

I'm currently in the process of stripping down Franks model into a proxy so I can just post the lot.

Cheers

OK,

Fingers crossed I have proxyified Franks model sufficiently (it still appears to work in the chor).

Project should be here:

http://users.bigpond.com/higginsdj/Lesson6AProxy.zip (124kb)

Hopefully everythign shoudl be there (I just switched everything to embedded)

It contains all three chors and is the latest version I sent off to Frank (he's still not 100% happy with it)

Cheers

Well, since David and Robert both contributed something, I'll give the Looney Tunes to Dave and an "Action" #270, Nov 1960, to Bob (see comic below).

Thanks for helping out. There are a lot of people out there who need to get a feel for these Reusable Motion topics.

David, send me your address.

Many thanks Martin but I fear both international mail services (particulalry at this time of year) and my own poor record of looking after things so best keep the comic for someone who would better appreciate/look after it than I. Besides I'm in this for the participation and your challenges give me an excuse to get off my backside and actually do something biggrin.gif

(I hope this doesn't offend anyone!)

Cheers
