Every once in awhile my mind wanders. (yeah... no kiddin')
This particular time it settled on the idea of TWO posters.

Anyone have any ideas or images laying around that would classify as promotional material for TWO?
I'm not suggesting any be used in actual promotion of TWO but I know we have some very creative minds here in the A:M Forum.

(If you are busy animating on TWO this isn't really meant for you but post 'em if you've got 'em... then get back to work!)

After creating the attached I noted a few possible improvements:

Loonville Poster
Add Tin Woodman, Scarecrow and Woot into the scene.
Improve the Loonville title; changing it to "Don't go into Loonville"

Witch Poster
Update the Witch to with her fancy new textures (ala Nancy Gormezano)
Pose her so she is facing away from the audience and looking back over her shoulder.
Change the title to "The Wicked Witch's Back!" (Ha! Get it? We are looking at her back? The witch's back? Um... no?)

Yeah... I understand she's not that wicked witch, and no she really isn't back in the movie.
But she does make an appearance in a flashBACK!
Ah well, its only a poster.

Top that you slackers!

Would anyone, who happens to have the Tin Servant on hand or can get it from the SVN, care to make a helmet hair version of his coif?

Make it a model that I could drop into the chor and constrain to his head bone and it would pop into the same place as his particle hair.

If you want to texture it to look like it has hair strands that would be a nice extra, but I think just flat black might pass.

Maybe there's a version of him sitting around already where he had modeled hair and that could be extracted. I dimly recall something like that.

I don't know why, but there seems to be no way for me to get a frame rendered with his real hair ON.

(I'm trying to do a render of the parade scene)

thanks

But I have poor bandwidth at home and still would like to show the movie to my family. So I thought about putting the movie files on a DVD by myself. Is there anything?

Thanks and regards,
Ralf

Act 2 sequence 02 "Do not follow this path to Loonville!"

This is where I'll post my work on sequence _2_02 aka "The Thicket". I like this sequence because it's a nice self-contained scene with clear beginning, middle and end.

On the one hand it's bit of a luxury to have a whole contiguous sequence to animate. Most animators on a feature have to take what ever shot is out of pre-production. On the other hand, I'll be trying to do this all myself and it's a big chunk. Ninety seconds would be a bigger continuous piece of animation than I have attempted before.

Anyway, I'll try to put all the best practices I've learned over the last three years or so into actual use and we'll see what comes out.

Here's my original concept of the sequence. I did this last year. This is ancien regime, from even before Bob was involved with TWO. This isn't an "animatic" yet, with specific camera shots laid out. This is more like a "pitch" that one might act out live for a producer, with some storyboard drawings added. But it demonstrates the general tone and flavor that I'm going for.

loonville.mov 7MB

The next step is to develop this properly. Devise better poses, "plus" the performance of the characters, decide where to cut, pick out effective camera angles, other things I haven't thought of...

I don't know how long this will all take. A professional Hollywood animator who knows what he is doing would spend about 25-30 weeks on 90 seconds of animation. But since I'm not in Hollywood and not a professional and have only a novice's insight into what I'm doing, maybe some corners can be cut and it can be done sooner.

no guarantees, however.

Winkies as hair

Okay

I understand that Winkie crowds might be "animated Hair". Since there are no Winkies yet and I have not been involved and have no idea on how to use the SVN "yet" I did a simple test using thom. I made 3 sets of tgas of thom doing the same action from 3 different angles. I made 3 hair materials each using a different series as the animate hair sequence. I applied the hair tp a single patch and adjusted the density to have one hair per patch. Anyway here is the results

http://www.hash.com/forums/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=27048

I think there is 20 thoms and only 20 patches ..Is this helpful ?
